Here at Marrzipan, we believe that self-confidence is one of the most important life skills to have. After teaching drama classes around Aotearoa to thousands of children, we have first-hand experience in the benefit of giving individual’s a creative outlet and witnessing the incredible personal growth it can provide. Through our love of drama, we have spent years cultivating our drama classes which focus on building confidence, public speaking and social skills all while having fun in a comfortable environment.
But there are so many ways to enjoy drama and the performing arts whether it be song, dance or acting, to name just a few. We understand that all kids are different and we all enjoy different things and luckily there are lots of amazing options to choose from right here in our capital city which have unique elements to accommodate your unique individual requirements. We also believe that drama should not just be for kids, I mean we have fun with it ourselves every day!
So we’ve decided to put through a list of just some of the drama schools Wellington has to offer in 2021 to help you decide on the perfect fit for you and your little ones:
*Please note that this list is in no particular order*
Drama Club
Held on weekday afternoons at the Karori Bridge Club, Drama Club is a fun programme designed for school kids and High Schoolers alike.
In their words: “I started Drama Club because I wanted to develop a drama programme that was not only fun but taught children the fundamentals of speaking onstage and helped develop their confidence at the same time.”
Drama club is not just a ‘one size fits all’ programme. Whether its poetry, plays, debating, or improv, there’s a little bit of something for everyone!
Musical Stars
Is your little one a real triple threat? Why not check out Musical Stars where they can sing, dance and act throughout multiple Wellington venues!
In their words: “We take our youngest and grow their musical theatre knowledge and skills, and give them opportunities to succeed in a fun, safe and supportive environment. Our older students continue to develop their craft and are challenged further with more performance and leadership opportunities.”
For children young and old, Musical Stars might just be the place to help hone in your superstar’s talents!

Leaping Lizards offers a creative outlet where kids can express themselves. But what if an adult wants to try tame their two left feet? Never fear because their sister company: https://spiritusdance.co.nz/ might just be the thing you need!

Marrzipan Drama
And lets wrap it up with a small word about ourselves! With teachers throughout New Zealand, Marrzipan aims to increase self-confidence in children aged 5-12 via drama classes and holiday workshops using our tried and tested Marrzipan Method. We travel around to loads of schools and help your little one mould their personality; as weirdly, uniquely wonderful as they are.
We offer in school and online classes during term and workshops in the holidays which students can attend one some or all of. Each term we work towards a performance for friends and family to enjoy. We keep our classes small enough to ensure each child gets the attention they need to benefit and grow. Marrzipan also offer free trials for students wanting to test it out and see if its right for them.
In our words: “Igniting the you in you”
